Dr. David Middleton
I was born and raised in Titusville, Pennsylvania; a small town in the north western corner of the state. Our claim to fame includes being the birthplace of the oil industry, home to “muckrakers” like Ida Tarbell as well as the legendary John Heisman. After serving 5 years active duty in the United States Army as a Medic, I worked towards my Bachelor of Science degree at the US Military Academy and Penn State University. I knew that I wanted to help people in some capacity through the healing arts. Chiropractic was introduced to me on the rugby pitch! Having been an athlete my whole life, culminating competitively as a collegiate Division I wrestler and the Division I Rugby National Final Four, I keenly understood the importance of function and adaptability to maintain health. I appreciated the holistic approach of chiropractic. I knew that even though at the time it was considered non-traditional and somewhat controversial, it was the right choice for me. I earned my Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from the “fountainhead” of our profession, the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in February 1998. Following graduation, I was offered a job in Edinburgh, Scotland, where chiropractic was considered a “shortage” profession. I saw this as an exciting opportunity to experience life overseas as well as to potentially help shape the future of chiropractic in Great Britain. I stayed in beautiful Edinburgh for a year before moving to the Newcastle (northeast) area of England. I started two additional practices as an Associate Doctor before opening my own clinic in December 2000, with my wife Amy.
One of the highlights of my practice in England was working closely with professional athletes and teams. I was the team chiropractor for premiership football (soccer) teams Sunderland AFC and Middlesboro FC and worked on a consultancy basis with several other players from teams including the USA national team, Swedish national team, Dutch National Team; professional and club level rugby players throughout the northeast; equestrians of all levels; boxers; competitive runners. I also worked with many British Olympic and Para-Olympic athletes. (Despite holding the trust of elite and amateur athletes alike, my own children, all accomplished athletes in their own right, of course still question my advice!) Although these professional associations were exciting, the most rewarding part of practice was family practice, treating the young and the old from 1 day old to 100!
Despite our success in England, after 7 years of practice, we decided it was important to raise our children in America and made the decision to return to New England, where my wife was raised. We made the move to the wonderful seacoast of New Hampshire in January 2005 and could not be happier with our decision and feel that we have found the best possible home-town for our 6 children!
In order to better serve myself and my patients, I am dedicated to continued education and training. I have advanced training in Sacro-Occipital Therapy, Cox Flexion Distraction Therapy, Active Release Techniques, Pediatric Assessment and the Webster Technique. I am a Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner (CCEP) and in 2010, completed course work to become a Certified Chiropractic Wellness Lifestyle Practitioner (CCWP) through the international Chiropractic Association. Currently, I am working towards a Diplomat in Functional Pediatric Neurology. In addition to being a Doctor of Chiropractic, I am also Board Certified in Physio Therapy. I am a member of the International Chiropractic Association, the American Chiropractic Association, The International Pediatric Chiropractic Association, The International Federation of Sports Chiropractic, The Council of Extremity Adjusting and the NH Chiropractic Associations. I also continue to live vicariously through numerous elite athletes as the team Chiropractor for the UNH Men’s and Women’s Hockey.
In all our years of practice, we credit our success not only to our commitment to providing the absolute best in comprehensive, individualized chiropractic care, but also to our dedication to providing the same customer service and welcoming atmosphere that we would expect for our own family and friends.
