Dr. David J. Metcalf
Dr. David Metcalf got his B.A. in English from Ripon College in Wisconsin in 1992 and began practicing chiropractic in Kansas in 1998 after graduating from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Minnesota. He practiced in Texas before coming to Maine and has been living in Augusta since the end of 2014, having moved to the area with his family of three (now adult) daughters and his beautiful wife, Jessica. Dr. Metcalf and his wife are proud cat parents to Moto and Tiki.
Dr. Metcalf has spent his career as a chiropractor focused on understanding the dynamics of soft-tissue injuries and how that knowledge applies to getting his patients better more efficiently. He has significant experience with ART (Active Release Technique), MFR (Myofascial Release), Tissue Blading/Scraping (Graston) and Kinesio Taping, as well as a host of other rehabilitation and exercise modalities.
Dr. Metcalf has most recently been involved with teaching Functional Anatomy at the Downtown Yoga School of Massage in Augusta. He carries this skill set into his regular chiropractic practice, as he believes it is vitally important to educate simply and clearly when it comes to why a patient is hurting.
When not in the office, Dr. Metcalf loves to cook (he’s obsessed with hot sauces) and, should you pass him while in the car, you will likely hear him blaring his beloved heavy metal music. Of note: A legend in his own living room, Dr. Metcalf plays guitar and bass and loves to collect guitar pedals (as well as the aforementioned hot sauces).
